Villa Ludwigshöhe

Illustrated Booklet 4

Villa Ludwigshöhe Palace was built between 1846 and 1852 for King Ludwig I of Bavaria. Its classicist architecture reflects the builder’s enthusiasm for Italy and antiquity. He lived in the palace every other summer until his death. After many years of neglect, Ludwigshöhe was given a new lease of life in 1888 with the visits of Prince Regent Luitpold. During his time there, magnificent murals based on Pompeian models were created in the dining room, which now shines in new splendour.
